Patricia W. Gilroy, 72, formerly of Iowa City, died January 18, 2004 at her daughter’s home in Tewksbury, New Jersey following a brief illness.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Ken Kuntz officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Crisis Center.

Pat was born June 20, 1931 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of Reuben and Mary Ann Bowman Warren. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and had attended Case Western Reserve and Columbia University. Pat married to Thomas Gilroy Jr. on April 26, 1958 in West New York, New Jersey.

Pat had been a Program Associate with the Iowa Humanities Program and later was an abstracter for Johnson County. For six years she was the coordinator of emergency services and the food bank at the Iowa City Crisis Center.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the United Way, the Association of Retarded Citizens and a past president of the Regina School Board. Pat was well known for her involvement with the Johnson County Democratic Party and other community organizations.

Pat is survived by one daughter, Mary Stark and her husband Dan of Tewksbury, New Jersey; two sons, Jhon Gilroy of Seattle, Washington and Robert Gilroy of Taipei; three grandchildren, Zane Latta of Coralville, Hank Stark and Lily Stark both of Tewksbury, New Jersey; one sister, Betty Warren of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, William Warren of Columbus, Ohio; one Sister-in-law, Joan Greenslate of Burgettstown; and two brothers-in-law Charles Woods of New Albany, Ohio and John Wolfenberger of Columbus, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Thomas Peter Gilroy III, one granddaughter Shayna Gilroy, three sisters Jean Woods, Norma Woods and Barbara Wolfenberger, two brothers Richard Warren and Robert Greenslate.
