Mrs. Rittenmeyer Succumbs at 72

Mrs. Bess L. Rittenmeyer, 72, of 715 East Fairchild street, died at 4:55 a.m. today at Mercy hospital where she was taken after having suffered a stroke at her home some two hours earlier.

She was the former Bess Fitch, born July 27, 1888, in Clearfield, moving to Iowa City in 1904. Her marriage to Albert P. Rittenmeyer took place in St. Patrick's church here.

She was a member of St. Mary's church and the Altar and Rosary society.

Survivors include six sons, Adrian F., Lou V. and Ted M. Rittenmeyer of Iowa City; Kenneth J. of White Plains, N.Y., Bernard A., Riverside, and Dean P., Sparks, Nev., and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1944, and also by two sisters.

Requiem high mass will be said at 9 o'clock Monday in St. Mary's church, with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the McGovern funeral home.
