Helen "June" Springer, former Iowa City resident, passed away 2/25/2012 due to a massive stroke.

June was born on June 28, 1926 in Crete, Illinois to Nelson and Helen Helme. She was the youngest 8 children. She grew up in Crete and graduated from Kendall Junior College and then from Floral Design School. On 10/23/54 she married Owen Springer, the grade school principal in Crete.

June and Owen lived in Crete, East Lansing MI, Champaign, IL and then moved to Iowa City, Iowa where they resided for 38 years. June was a lunch lady at Hoover Elementary School and in charge of the lunch program at Lemme Elementary School until her retirement.

June loved to golf, bowl and attend all Iowa Hawkeye sporting events. In 2006, June moved to Lincolnshire, Illinois to be closer to her only child, Lori Springer Zwart and her family.

June is survived by her daughter Lori Springer Zwart, husband Jay, grandchildren Elizabeth and Nick, her brother, Bill Helme and his wife Alice Jane of Blue Eye, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
