David Beltz, 49

David Russell Beltz, 49, of Solon, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at Muscatine Hospital after a factory accident at North Star Steel in Wilton.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorieum, with the Rev. Timothy Zimmerman officiating.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the David Beltz Memorial Fund.

Mr. Beltz was born July 18, 1948, in Iowa City to Russell and Marcella (Krall) Beltz. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School and attended the University of Iowa. He married Sandra Siems on Sept 30, 1967, in Iowa City. They lived in Iowa City until they moved to rural Solon in 1995. He was a maintenance supervisor for North Star Steel in Wilton.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters and their husbands, Christina and Steve Spendler of North Liberty and Anne and Jim Mason of Martinsville, Ind.; one son, Gary Beltz of West Branch; one sister and her husband, Donna and James McKillip of Muscatine; two brothers, Steve Beltz and his wife, Donna, of Muscatine and Larry Beltz of Davenport; and two grandchildren.

His parents died earlier.
