Esther Dyson, 93

Esther Elvira Dyson, 93, formerly of 55 Olive Court, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997 at Lantern Park Care Center after a short illness.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at George L. Gay Funeral Home & Crematorium, with the Rev. david Lorenzen officiating. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Visitarion will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with special services by the White Shrine of Jerusalem at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Esther E. Dyson Memorial Fund.

Mrs. Dyson was born sept. 4, 1904, in Lyons, Neb. to Clyde Robbins and Edna Bigelow. Her family moved to Miltona, Minn., when she was 7 years old and she was raised from there and graduated from Alexandria, Minn., high school. Before attending college she served as a nanny in Chicago for one year. She attended Normal College in St. Cloud, Minn. and taught school in Miltona, Minn.

She married Donald Woodrow Dyson on Aug 18, 1929, in Miltona, Minn. He died in April, 1988.

She was a 50-year life member of The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem-Bethlehem Shrine No. 8, and a life member of The Order of the Eastern Star - Jesamine Chapter No. 135 of Iowa City. She also was a member of the Cedar Rapids Theatre Organ Society. She was a past organist at the VA Hospital for 13 years.

Survivors include one son and his wife, John and Maralee Dyson, of Iowa City; one brother and his wife, Clyde "John" and Emilie Robbins of Commerce City, Colo., and two nieces.

One sister, Marie Tullar, died earlier.
