Robert H. Oehmke of Iowa City, died Friday, October 10, 2003 at Mercy Hospital following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 14 at the Newman Catholic Student Center in Iowa City with Reverend Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Friends may call Monday, October 13 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:30pm. Robert chose to be cremated following the Mass and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Robert Oehmke Scholarship fund with The University of Iowa Foundation, The Newman Catholic Student Center or Mercy Hospital of Iowa City.

Professor Oehmke taught in the Math Department at the University of Iowa for 39 years. During his career, he supervised 35 PhD students.

Professor Oehmke’s family includes his wife Theresa of Iowa City; a son Jim & his wife Patty of East Lansing, Michigan; two granddaughters, Teri & Alex; a brother Harold Oehmke of Michigan and a sister Shirley Korbai & her husband Elmer of Wisconsin.
