Florence F. Curran 1908 - 2003

Florence F. Curran, 88 of 4375 Sioux Avenue SE died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 are Friday at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service-605 Kirkwood Ave. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or Zion Lutheran Church Music Department.

Florence was born December 13, 1914, the daughter of S. Ray and Agnes (Douglass) Lippincott. She was born in Brooklyn, Iowa. She was one of thirteen children. On March 21, 1938, she was united in marriage to Charles “Bud” Curran. She and her husband owned and operated People’s Grocery and also worked for Means Bros. Grocery and Whiteway. For twenty two years she worked for the Press Citizen in the circulation department, retiring in 2002. Bingo was her passion. She enjoyed going to garage sales, fishing in Canada, watching sports events and helping people. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where for 22 years she made the coffee every Sunday.

She is survived by her husband, Bud Curran of Iowa City; by her children: Jean Manasmith and her husband Larry of Iowa City and their children, Mikki Webb and her husband Ricky, Jeff Manasmith, Stacey Gates and her husband Gary, Her daughter, Vicki Curran of Iowa City and her children, Danielle Fulton and Darcie Wolf and her husband George; Son, William Curran and his wife Emily of Iowa City and their children, Kristee Malmberg and her husband Jim, Cathy Putney and her husband Kevin and Cindy Haught and her husband Dennis. By fifteen great grandchildren: Sara Hoyle, Natalie Webb, Kyle, Sean and Madison Gates, Melisa and Michael Malmberg, Curran and Maclaine Putney, Caitlin and Collin Haught, Alex Huberty, Jacob, Isaac and Ursula Wolf. She is also survived by her sisters, Lillian McClure of Malcom, Iowa, Verna Clute of Coggon, Iowa, and Virginia Zimmerman and her husband Robert of Hills, Iowa by two brothers, Dale Lippincott and his wife Helen of Brooklyn, Iowa, and Dean Lippincott and his wife Betty of Brooklyn.

Her parents, four brothers, John, Howard, Russell and Charles, and three sisters, Ellen, Evelyn and Lethel, all preceded her in death.
