Francis A. Harney, 75, of Wichita Falls, Texas, died September 15, 2003, at United Regional Health Care in Wichita Falls from complications of leukemia.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with Reverend Joseph Van Phung officiating. Friends may call Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A parish wake service will be held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City.

Francis was born November 15, 1927, in Havlock, Nebraska. He was a manager with Cryovac, moving from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Texas in 1975. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII from 1946 - 1948. He married Leona Trachta on September 11, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife Leona Harney; two daughters, Linda Williams & her husband Joe of Archer City, Texas and Diane Harney & Vern Wilson of Amarillo, Texas; a son, Raymond Harney & his wife Carrie of Rochester, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Dana, Lisa, Laura, Ben, Jim & Nick; one great-grandson, Matthew; four sisters, Mary Dlouhy & her husband Milo, Virginia Ockenfels & her husband Dan, Theresa Harney and Rosie Langenberg & her husband Gene; seven brothers, Paul Harney & his wife Betty, Joe Harney, Tom Harney & his wife Emily, Ed Harney & his wife Joyce, Dave Harney & his wife Marianne, Pat Harney & his wife Jean, and Jim Harney & his wife Sandy; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Vincent, and a sister, Vivian.
