David D. Whetstine, age 42 of 1613 Prairie Du Chien Road, Iowa City died Sunday, September 7, 2003 unexpectedly at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in his name. David Dean Whetstine was born August 5, 1961 in Iowa City the son of William H. Whetstine Sr. and Evyonne Cariens Whetstine. He attended schools in the Iowa City School District. He has been a general laborer in this area for many years. Many of those who knew David knew him as a caring, friendly and very social able friend.

His family includes his parents, Bill and Yvonne Whetstone of Iowa City, sisters, Linda and her husband, Jon Bechen of Cedar Rapids, Theresa Whetstine of Pella, Donna Whetstine of Iowa City, and Lisa and her husband, William Forrester of Cedar Rapids; brother and his wife, Bill Whetstine Jr. and Susan of Muscatine; grandmother, Florence Cariens of Iowa City; nephews and nieces, Derek Matthew, Emiley, Dustan, Brandon, and Dillon.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Barbara Grandstaff, and Susan Whetstine and his grandparents.
