Mrs. Mary Frees, 90

Mrs. Mary Frees, 90, of Iowa City and formerly of Oxford, died Thursday, Sept. 9, at a local nursing home following a lengthy illness.

Services were Saturday, Sept. 11 at 2:30 p.m. at Oxford Chapel of the George L. Gay Funeral Home. Burial was in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Oxford.

Mrs. Frees was born Nov. 28, 1880, at Scotts Grove, daughter of David and Jeanneta Napier Lichty. She was married to Edward Frees Feb. 15, 1900, at Vinton. They lived in the Oxford area from 1900 to 1968 before moving to Iowa City. She was a member of the Oxford American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband; six sons, Francis and Edward, both of Iowa City; Marvin and Leonard, both of Oxford, Robert of Solon and John of Tacoma, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Edna) Laschke of Iowa City, Mrs. Donald (Ethel) Farrens of Clarinda and Mrs. Alice Hines of Vacacville, Calif., and several grandchildren.
