Fred L. Yeggy, 50, of 212 Lakeside Drive NE in Solon, died suddenly Sunday, August 24, 2003 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids from a heart attack.
Fred chose to be cremated. The family will greet friends Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held at 11:00 am at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Fred L. Yeggy Memorial Fund.
Fred was born August 13, 1953 in Iowa City, the son of Wilfred & Georgena (Pata) Yeggy. He married Judy Schwab on December 12, 1982 in Las Vegas. He was a lifelong Johnson County resident and had worked for 20 years as a sub-contractor for Modern Wall Dry Wall in Iowa City.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and NASCAR races. Fred owned a muscle car and also enjoyed attending car shows.
He is survived by his wife Judy; two sons, Corey Yeggy and Joshua Yeggy, both of Solon; one sister, Sandy Bixby & her husband William of Nichols, two brothers, Richard Yeggy & his wife Donna of Gainesville, Missouri and Carl Yeggy & his wife Bonnie of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; his father, Wilfred Yeggy of Iowa City and his mother Georgena Cline & her husband Del of Cedar Rapids; his mother in law, Jean Schwab of Iowa City; brothers and sisters in law, Kathy Bolender of Iowa City, Connie Holcomb & her husband Daryl of Iowa City, Jeri Michalski of Omaha, Christine Mathess of Iowa City, John Schwab & his wife Judy of Iowa City, Jan Johnson & her husband Bruce of Williamsburg and Cammy Spencer & her husband Wade of Ft. Worth, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
His grandparents preceded him in death.
