Edna Fountain

Edna Ruth Fountain, 96, of Route 4, died Tuesday at the Pleasantview Care Center in Kalona after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the George L Gay Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Welsh officiating. Burial will be in River Junction Cemetery, near Riverside.

Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasantview Care Center.

She was born September 27, 1882, in Johnson County, a daughter of James and Millie Norris Magruder. She married Mose Fountain, September 17, 1902, in Lone Tree.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Iowa City and was a charter member of the River Valley Club.

Survivors include two sons, Robert and Lyle of Iowa City; two daughters Mrs Mildred Reed of Iowa City and Mrs Don (Alice) Hemsted of Hills; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild.
