John A Stober Succumbs at 85

John Albert Stober, 85, of 215 South Johnson Street, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday at University Hospital, where he had been a patient since suffering a broken hip in a fall two weeks ago.

A resident of Johnson county nearly all his life, and of Iowa City the past seven years. Mr Stober was a retired concrete worker and brick mason.

He was born September 24, 1875, at Richmond, Iowa, the son of John H and Prudence McIlree. (sic) On April 29, 1908, he married Bessie Fountain at Lone Tree, and the couple resided in River Junction throughout most of their married life.

Surviving are one son, Grant, of Iowa City; three daughters, Mrs Earl (Edith) Sholly, Mt Edgecombe, Alaska; Mrs Lester (Martha) Schnoebelen, Riverside; and Mrs Maynard (Doris) Marshalol, Post Falls, Idaho; 16 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, in 1955, and by an infant son.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beckman's with the Rev. Spencer M Adamson, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in the Walker Cemetery at River Junction
