Harley Gerot

Harley George Gerot, 75, of Route 4, died this morning at Oaknoll Retirement Residence following a lengthy illness.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St Joseph's Catholic Church at Hills, with the Rev M J Broderick officiating. Burial will be in St Joseph's Cemetery in Iowa City. Friends may call at George L Gay Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Wednesday. The parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Fund.

He was born October 6, 1902, in Washington County, to William and Kathryn Wieland Gerot. He married Elma Fountain, Oct., 25, 1927, in Iowa City.

He was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ralph, of Iowa City; a daughter, Grace Savage of Northglenn Colorado; six grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs Jake (Victorine) Sexton of Mission, Texas.

One brother died earlier.
