Mary Fountain Dies at Age 54

Lone Tree – Mrs Mary Fountain, 54, of rural Lone Tree, died Monday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a short illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jones Memorial Chapel with the Rev Roy Shaughnessy officiating. Burial will be in Swank Cemetery near Lone Tree.

Mrs Fountain was born April 5, 1911, at Lone Tree, the daughter of Joseph and Nellie Willtrout Walker.

She was married to Irvin Fountain in 1934, in Iowa City. She made her home in the Lone Tree area until 1959, when she moved to Iowa City. She returned to live at Lone Tree in 1965.

Surviving are one son, Thomas of Fort Carson, Colorado; a daughter, Dorothy, of Lone Tree; two brothers, Joseph Walker of Lone Tree and Richard Murphy of Iowa City; three sisters, Josephine Frantz of Iowa City, Amy Green of West Liberty, and Ella Barnes of Tiffin; and three grandchildren.
