Shafter Walker

Lone Tree – Shafter M Walker, 81, of Lone Tree, died at his home Saturday after a sudden illness.

Services were 2 p.m. Today at Sorden's Chapel in Lone Tree, with the Rev. Henry Yoder officiating.. Burial was in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Riverside.

He was born July 16, 1896, in Lone Tree, a son of Daniel and Ida Mae Luscomb Walker. He married Mary Mincer, Oct. 29, 1930, in Washington, Iowa. He was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of the Mexican Border Patrol during World War I.

Survivors include his wife; and son, Mearle, of Riverside; three daughters, Rubye Walker of Lone Tree, Mrs Kenneth (Frances) Musser of Iowa City, and Mrs Leo (Mildred) Hora of Nichols; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs Ardel Johnson of Kalona and a brother, Marvin Walker of Lone Tree.
