Marion L Fountain (7 June, 1985)

Marion L “Doc” Fountain of 2059 Mormon Trek Road, died Friday at University Hospital after a sudden illness. He was 73.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at George L Gay Funeral home with the Rev Jack Zerwas officiating . Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Johnson County Izaak Walton League Memorial fund.

Born Jan. 20, 1912, near Lone Tree, he was a son of Lawrence J and Mary Elizabeth Canott Fountain. He married Mary Wilma Mathes Feb. 27, 1938, in Iowa City. From 1941 to 1963 he farmed in Johnson County and then moved to Iowa City, where for 14 years he was employed at the University of Iowa power plant.

Mr Fountain was an active member of the Johnson County Izaak Walton league and served on its board of directors. He belonged to the Moose Lodge and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Larry D, of Iowa City; a daughter, Karen E Hradek, of Iowa City; two brothers, Enos of Luzerne, Iowa, and Clifford of Dallas; and five grandchildren.

Nine brothers and sisters died earlier.
