Obituary

Mrs Alda Fountain, one of the oldest residents in Pleasant Valley township passed away quite suddenly at her home about 3:45 o'clock Friday morning, June tenth at the age of seventy-seven years, nine months and seven days. Mrs Fountain had been in poor health for several years but failed rapidly after the death of her husband, Levi Fountain, about seven months ago. Mrs Fountain was conscious to the last and spoke to her children just a few moments before her death.

Alda Fountain was born September 3, 1860 of pioneer parents. Her grandfather received his land from the government and her son and his family are no living on that homestead.

In 1880 she was married to Levi Fountain. To this union were born thirteen children, nine of whom are still living; triplets died in infancy and her second son, Edward, preceded her in death in 1935 at his home in Modesto, California.

Mrs Fountain leaves to mourn her passing nine children: Della, Ellis, Herman and Alonzo on the home farm. Stanley of Hills, Leo on the maternal homestead in Fremont township, James Franklin of Montezuma, Mrs Miles Atkin, Jr., of Pleasant Valley township, Mrs Ben Trout of La Grange, Wyoming. Twenty grandchildren mourn the loss of their loving, kind and cheerful grandmother. Mrs Fountain is survived by two sisters, Mrs George Smith of Lone Tree and Mrs Stella Murphy of Covena, California.

Eight years ago Mr and Mrs Fountain celebrated their golden anniversary on February tenth. At that time, their ten children were here with them.

Mrs Fountain died as she lived – courageously and cheerful. She was a great lover of children and flowers. She lived a long and useful life, now she rests in peace. She will be mourned not only by her children and relatives but also by the many friends and neighbors.
