Vannie F. Koopman, 73, of North Liberty, died unexpectedly on April 27, 2011 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

The family will host a memorial celebration Sunday, May 1st, from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the home of Faye and Jeff Murguia, 125 N. Dubuque Street in North Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Vannie Koopman Memorial Fund . Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is handling arrangements.

Vannie was born November 23, 1937 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Jessie and Velma (Beaman) Landess. Growing up in and a long time resident of Burlington, Vannie was the business office manager at Elm View Care Center in Burlington and had also lived and worked in Mesa, Arizona. Upon retirement, she moved to North Liberty in 2001.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington where she was active in Bible study group and the Christian Education Committee. Vannie enjoyed gardening, crocheting, embroidering and reading.

Survivors include her daughters, Faye Murguia (Jeff) of North Liberty, Leslie Andrews (Chuck) of Grapevine, Texas, sons, Michael Koopman (Katherine) and Thomas Koopman; brother, Jack Landess (Laura) of Omaha, Nebraska, eleven grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
