Emma C. (Schnoor) Smith 87 of Iowa City, formerly of Davenport, died at Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City on April 26, 2011.

Emma was born on August 7, 1923 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Christian and Alvina (Zielke-Pankratz) Gross. She graduated from Muscatine High School and AIC. Emma married Vincent Schnoor in 1941. He preceded her in death. In 1985, she married Warren Smith.

While living in Davenport, Emma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she served on church council and was a member of Mary Martha Circle. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards with friends. For ten years, she was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal. In 2008, she moved to Iowa City, where she joined Zion Lutheran Church.

Emma is survived by her three children, James (Sheilah McGee) Schnoor of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jerald (Jana Johnson) Schnoor of Iowa City and Judith (Frederick) Oaks of Nashotah, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey (Donna) Schnoor, Brian Schnoor, Benjamin (Lisa Stewart) Schnoor, Britta (Chris) Loftus, Aaron Oaks, Emily Oaks amd Allison Oaks; 2 great grandchildren, Gabriella Schnoor and Vincent Schnoor.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents and four half brothers, Theodore, Rudolf, William and Arthur Pankratz and a half sister Lydia (Pankratz) Mill.

Private graveside services for family will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Muscatine. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church, 310 North Johnson, Iowa City, Iowa 52245.
