Geraldine T. Sheridan, 93, of 102 Potomac Drive, Iowa City, died Friday morning, July 18, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a short illness.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Iowa City, with the Reverend Kenneth Kuntz, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City, where there will be a parish rosary at 6:30 p.m.. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Regina Education Center or
St. Anthony’s Bread c/o St. Mary’s Church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.lensingfuneral.com.

Geraldine Sheridan was born March 9, 1910 in West Liberty, Iowa, the daughter of Frank Roland and Sarah Honora (Cunniff) Ruess. She graduated from St. Mary’s high School in 1927 and the University College of Commerce with a B.S.C. in 1931. She was united in marriage to Bernard W. Sheridan on June 12, 1939, in Iowa City, the couple made their home here, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the Center for Research in School Administration at the University of Iowa College of Education, retiring in 1972.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for over 80 years, a lifelong member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association and the Mercy Hospital Guild.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Sally Boyd and her husband, Michael of Bettendorf, Iowa, son, Bill Sheridan of Iowa City, three grandchildren, Pat, Mike and Betsy, seven great-grandchildren, Paul and Sara, Ryan and Maggie, Abby, Matthew and Sean.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Mary Ipsen and Elizabeth Ruess.
