Walter W. Reese, 86 of 1028 Briar Dr. Iowa City, died Friday, July18, 2003 at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Gebel officiating. Visitation will be Monday and time at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the charity of ones choice.

Walter was born October 18, 1916 in Poole, Nebraska the son of William H. and Kate (Meyers) Reese. He worked for Hometown Dairy for twenty two years. He was united in marriage to Lorena Eggenburg on August 16, 1940, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his children, Walter W. Reese, Jr. of Iowa City, two daughters, Janet Miller and her husband Jerry of Plymouth, Minnesota, Shirley Lemon of Benicia, California; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Everett Reese and his wife Evelyn of Lincoln, Nebraska, Edward Reese of Kearney, Nebraska, Arthur Reese of Fairbury, Nebraska; five sisters, Dorothy Heinzman, Margaret Thompson of Coralville, Iowa, Eileen Metz of Giben, Nebraska, Evelyn Kreutzer and her husband Harold of Odessa, Nebraska and Loretta Kiper of Aledo, Texas. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Irma Hall and her husband James and Eudenia Gruwell and her husband Edward all of Iowa City, Iowa.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, Carl and one sister, Alice Kersting.
