Kathryn T. Fountain, 81, of 105 C Street NE in Walford, Iowa, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at Living Center East in Cedar Rapids following a short illness.

Friends may call Wednesday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. Private graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Colonial Manor in Amana, Iowa.

Kathryn was born April 1, 1922, in Iowa City, the daughter of Gilbert & Josephine (Winters) Haman. She was raised in Iowa City and married Harry Fountain on April 12, 1944, in Iowa City. Kathryn & her husband operated the West Liberty Car Wash for many years. She also worked at Louis Rich in West Liberty for five years and also worked as a housekeeper at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for ten years and at Iowa City Care Center (now Iowa City Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Kleinschmidt of Walford; a grandson, Jay Kleinschmidt & his wife Wendy of Walford and two great-grandchildren, Ryan & Dylan; a sister, Mary Rohret and her husband Robert of Iowa City; sisters in law, Dorothy Haman, Orianna Haman & Joan Haman, all of Iowa City.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Vincent, Orlo, Robert & Richard.
