Ronald L. Stroud, age 56 of 1509 Aber Avenue, Iowa City died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend James Vrba officiating. Burial with military honors at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ron’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for Ron’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com.

Ronald Lee Stroud was born April 3, 1947, in Iowa City the son of Earl Wesley and Irene Mary (Kelley) Stroud. He graduated from Iowa City City High School in 1965. During Vietnam, Ron served two duties in the United States Navy. For a number of years he worked for Hartwig Motors and Winebrenner Ford both in Iowa City, and later he owned and operated his own auto body shop in Oxford.

His family includes a daughter and her husband, Kileen and Dean Martin of Cedar Rapids, granddaughter, Jordan Leigh Martin of Cedar Rapids; parents, Earl and Irene Stroud of Iowa City; sisters and their husbands, Ginger and Dennis Rost of Manson, Iowa, Terry and Ralph Abbott of Davenport, Diane and Wayne Siems of Coralville, Barbara and Bill Brant of Ankeny, Betty and Larry Staley of Iowa City, Robin and Don Cox of West Branch, and Christine and Rob Mayers of Davenport; brothers, Frank and his wife, Cindy Stroud of Des Moines, William and his wife, Eunice Stroud of Iowa City, Edward Stroud of Iowa City, and Richard Stroud of Solon; and many nieces and nephews.

Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Ron’s family and his services.
