Raymond Tolley age 60 of Cedar Rapids died on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, July, 19, 2003 at the Oxford United Methodist Church, burial will be at Babcock Cemetery. To honor one of Ray’s wishes, come in causal cloths, no suits or ties please. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church in Oxford. Memorials may be given to the Raymond Tolley memorial fund; online condolences may be sent to his family through our website @www.gayandciha.com.
Raymond was born on September 2, 1942 in Stanton W.V., the son of Samuel and Marie Thomas Baxter. He attended school in Richmond, Virginia and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1969. He married Beverly Schropp on August 22, 1970 in Cedar Rapids. Ray work for the Martin Marietta Corporation for thirty four years. He was a lead man at the quarry and a member of Teamster Local 238.
Ray was a fan of NASCAR as well as local dirt track racing; he was a member of a co-workers pit crew. Ray liked to travel and enjoyed his vacations. He spent many hours on his computer playing internet pool with family and friends. Ray will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his grandkids were his pride and joy. He will be missed by his family and friends.
His family includes his wife Bev of Cedar Rapids, two daughters Tracey Tolley of Cedar Rapids and Charity Kennedy of Walker, six grandchildren Alexis, Angel, Chrissy and Cassie Kennedy, Weston and Destiny Dostal, one sister Bonnie and husband Roy Johnson, and one nephew Keith and wife Marli Tolley all of Richmond.
His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Ray’s services and his family.
