Darnell R. Stoker, age 50 of Oxford went to be with her Lord after a courageous battle with cancer, Thursday, July 10, 2003 at her home surrounded by her family.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at the Grace Community Church near North Liberty. Visitation will be from 2 to 8pm Sunday at the Oxford United Methodist Church. A memorial fund has been established in Darnell’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for Darnell’s family through the funeral home’s website @ gayandciha.com.

Darnell Rae Stocker was born February 3, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Darrel R. and Kathleen E. (Cornwell) Lindley. She graduated from Central City High School, Salutorian of the Class of 1971, and later received her B.S. Degree in Biology from Iowa State University. She has been working towards her Master’s Degree in Special Education. On August 12, 1972, she married David E. Stoker in Central City. For a number of years she was a teacher in the Highland School District in both the junior and senior high levels. While teaching she received the Grant Wood Area Partner’s in Education Award.

She was a member of the Grace Community Church near North Liberty, Sweet Adeline’s, enjoyed sewing, and all Disney and Mickey Mouse characters. Her family, especially her two children were her greatest blessings in her life.

Her family includes her two children, Robin E. Stoker and Benjamin D. Stoker both of Oxford; parents, Darrel and Kathleen Lindley of Oxford,; sister and her husband, Robin and Brian McConnell of Moline, IL; and two brothers and their wives, Jerry and Marjorie Teaque of Reynold, IL and Bob and Christa Lindley of Lone Tree.

Her husband, David preceded her in death on November 13, 1994.
