Peter “P.C.” “Pete” C. Walters, 82 of Bickford Cottage, formerly of 2801 Hwy 6 East # 31, died Sunday, May 11, 2003 of Renal Failure.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. The family will greet friends Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave. Iowa City. Where a parish vigil service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. A private committal service will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to UIHC Renal Dialysis Unit.

Peter was born September 6, 1920 in Corwith, Iowa the son of Carl and Elizabeth Heims Walters. On December 28, 1944 he was united in marriage to Paige Williams. They met while teaching school in Riceville, Iowa. He and his wife farmed southwest of Iowa City where they raised purebred Suffolk and North Country Cheviot Sheep. He worked as the general manager for the Sharon Telephone Company from 1959 – 1979. He was a member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge #549 and a member of the Iowa City Moose Lodge #1096. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge and other card games.

He is survived by his children; James Walters and his wife Christine of Iowa City, Julie Hausman of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Christopher Hausman and his wife Celina, of Dallas, Texas, Kirsten Hausman of Dallas, Texas and Matthew Walters of Iowa City, Iowa. He is also survived by two brothers, Jacob Walters and his wife Velma of Fairmont, Minnesota, Thomas Walters and his wife Sylvia of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; two sisters, Katherine Caldwell of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Pauline Black of Laurens, Iowa; a brother in law and his wife, Robert & Alice Williams of Stoney Creek, Connecticut; numerous nieces and nephews; by special friend Rose Meer of Iowa City and by his bridge partner, Edna Englert of Iowa City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and by seven sisters and one brother.
