Edna M. Kadera, 92, of 416 N. Dodge Street, Iowa City, died Friday morning, April 4, 2003 at her home following a sudden illness.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Iowa City, with the Reverend Michael Phillips, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City, where there will be a parish rosary followed by a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Edna M. Edna M. Kadera was born April 12, 1910 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Joseph S. and Clara M. (Aicher) Hotka. She grew up in the Iowa City area attending rural Newport School #4 and graduating from Iowa City High School. She attended Iowa City Commercial College and taught country school for a short time. She was united in marriage to Herman J. Kadera on June 28, 1932. The couple made their home in Iowa City, where she worked as an accounting clerk for Bremers Clothing, Westinghouse and later National Computer Systems. She had volunteered at the Iowa City Senior Center, the AARP office and enjoyed playing euchre.

Edna is survived by her three sons: James H. Kadera of Portland, Oregon, Richard F. Kadera and his wife, Amy McCray-Kadera of Middleton, Wisconsin, William J. Kadera of Iowa City, four grandchildren; Mike, Kevin, Scott and Dawn and three great-grandchildren; Kanen, Brittney and Seth, one brother, Ray Hotka of The Dalles, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Wes Hotka and her sister, Edith Lacina.
