Iowa City Press Citizen, Tuesday, May 15, 1956. Ed Shea Dies; Rites Thursday. Ed Shea, 73, of 606 East Church street, died Monday afternoon at his home after a long illness. He was a resident here for 72 years. Mr. Shea was born in Larned, Kans., September 17, 1882, the son of John and Louisa Forwald Shea. He was married to Jennie Sook, April 27, 1904. Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mrs. William J. Coen, of Iowa City; one son, Robert Shea, of Iowa City; two granchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Schlenk, of Washington D.C.; one brother, Jim Shea, of Larned, and several nieces and nephews. Two sons, eight brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Wenceslaus church with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hohenschuh mortuary.
