Iowa City Citizen, Monday, November 24, 1913. Mrs. Louisa Shay (Shea) Is Dead At Home. Loved Pioneer Passes Away After Short Illness - Funeral Tomorrow. Mrs. Louisa Shay died Saturday evening at her home, 1122 N. Dodge street, at nine o'clock, after a short illness, ages 66 yars, 10 months, and 16 days. Death came as the result of a stroke of paralysis. Surviving are eight sons, Humphrey, Charles, Clarence, and Ed of Iowa City, Dennis, Will, and James, of Larned, Kansas, and Benjamin, of Cedar Rapids; and one daughter, Mrs. Carl Schlenk, of Iowa City. Mrs. Shay was one of the oldest of Iowa City's pioneers, having lived all her life in Johnson county. Her husband passed away about seven years ago. The funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's. Burial will be at St. Joseph's cemetery.
