Richard Kessler, 85

Richard Kessler, 85, of the Solon Nursing Care Center, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1998, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a short illness.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Brosh Funeral Home in Solon. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Solon.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

Mr. Kessler was born Aug. 25, 1913, in Solon, to Rollie and Alba (Mekota) Kessler. He farmed for many years before his retirement. He had lived at the care center for the past three years.

He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include several cousins, including Bev and Darrell Rebik of Solon, Ann Vittengl of Cedar Rapids, Clara Ditterline of Buena Park, Calif., and Ruth Bringman of Wellman.
