Ronald Kessler, 90
Ronald F. Kessler, 90, of Solon, died Saturday, Oct. 17. 1998, at the Solon Nursing Care Center after a short illness.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Brosh Funeral Home in Solon with the Rev. Douglas Peters officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Solon.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Kessler was born on March 21, 1908, in Solon to Harvey and Florence (Payne) Kessler. He married Mildred Gleusing on June 1, 1927, in Dewitt. She died Jan. 2 1995. He owned and operated the Solon Barber Shop for about 8 years and Kessler's Tap in Solon for more than 50 years.
He was the founder of the Solon Gun Club and was involved in the community effort to raise money for the Solon Christmas decorations on Main Street. He was also a member of the Moose Club in Iowa City.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Rebik and her husband, Darrell, of Solon, two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
His wife died earlier.
