Sylvia Kessler, 80

Sylvia M. Dostal Kessler, 80, of Solon, died Friday, June 27, 1997, at the Solon Nursing Care Center after a long illness.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Brosh Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Mrs. Kessler was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Round Lake, Minn., to Frank and Anna (Trpkosh) Dostal. She married Donald H. Kessler in Cedar Rapids. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Wilson's and later at the University of Iowa's Burge Hall and the Iowa Memorial Union. She also was employed in the kitchen at the Solon Nursing Care Center.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Donna Kessler and Glee Ann Neibert and her husband, Dewayne, all of Solon; one son and his wife, Lloyd L. and Colleen Kessler of Solon; one sister, Della Popelka of Ely; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Her parents, two brothers, five sisters, and one great-grandson, Nicholas, died earlier.
