Perry Miller, 70
Perry E. Miller, Sr., 70, of 1000 Forest View Trailer Court, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at his daughter's home in Iowa City of cancer.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. at 2 p.m. Thursday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium. Burial will in the Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Coralville American Legion Post No. 721 and VFW Post No. 3949, assisted by other military rites.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Rosary service by Linda Milder will begin at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Iowa City Hospice.
Mr. Miller was born Dec. 28, 1929, in Iowa City to Gustav and Gertrude (Strub) Miller. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School. He joined the U.S. Army and was in the Korean War. He married Marlene Walton on May 18, 1952, at St. Patrick's Rectory. He worked at Hometown Dairy for 36 years. He retired and worked for ten years at Payless Cashways. He was a lifetime resident of Iowa City.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City and the VFW No. 3949 in Iowa City.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Stecher and her husband, Don, Lisa E.G. Miller, both of Iowa City; three sons, Perry Miller, Jr., and his wife, Mary Moyers, Mike Miller and his wife, Rhonda, and Pat Miller all of Iowa City; a brother, Robert Miller of Marshalltown; a sister, Dorothy Alberhaskey of Iowa City; a sister-in-law, Mary Miller of Iowa City; five grandchildren, several nieces and one nephew.
His parents, his wife in 1997; two brothers, Harold and Leopold; and a sister, Lucille Cooney, died earlier.
