Arthur “Wayne” Webster age 86 of 330 North Gilbert Street, Iowa City died suddenly while working at his beloved farm in rural Iowa County. Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM on Monday, March 31, 2003 at the Gay and Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Gay and Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Arthur “Wayne” Webster Memorial Fund. Arthur “Wayne” Webster was born on September 22, 1916 on the farm in rural Iowa County the son of Arthur and Blanche Buck Webster. He graduated from City High School in Iowa City and went on to further his education at the University of Iowa. Wayne married Renetta Yocom on July 28, 1939 at the Methodist Church in Iowa City. He worked more than 30 years at the University of Iowa in the traffic department as an ambulance driver. Wayne also was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. Wayne enjoyed doing anything on his farm, playing a game of horseshoes, playing bingo and cards and he especially loved cribbage. Above all else, he was a very gentle and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather uncle and friend.

His family includes his wife Renetta of Iowa City, daughters: Nancy VanCleve of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Sally Ladd and husband Mike of Batavia, Illinois, son John Webster and wife Patti of Marion, Iowa, grandchildren: Heidi Owen and husband Tim of Iowa City, Tony Ruppert and wife Cheri of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Brad Ruppert of Woodbury, Minnesota, Corey Webster and wife Casy of Dallas Center, Iowa, Jody Boyson and husband Brett of Cedar Rapids, 9 Great-Grand Children, sister-in-Law Bernice Webster of Kalona, niece Julia of Ohio, nephew David Webster and wife Jill of Illinois, and a brother-in-law Arlo Yocom.

His parents and his brother Howard preceded him in death. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Wayne’s family and his services.
