Gladys M. Edwards age 86 of 1799 5th Street, Coralville died following a short illness on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at the Oxford United Methodist Church, burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the church in Oxford. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Oxford United Methodist Church. Gladys Marie Edwards was born on December 2, 1916 in New Orleans, Louisiana the daughter of Charles and Maude V. Chambers Smith. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Mason City and married Orlo Edwards on August 8, 1934. She was a mother and wife along with working for many years at the Mercantile Grocery Store in Oxford. Gladys enjoyed cooking, visiting with friends and working outdoors. Above all else she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, the Women’s Circle at the church and a past member of the Rebecca Lodge.

Her family includes a daughter: Virginia and husband Jim Wenman of Coralville, grandchildren: Jim and wife Laura Wenman of Clive, Iowa and Ginger and husband Ed Troughton of Iowa City, great-grandchildren: Lennie and wife Lisa Troughton of Denver, Colorado, John Troughton of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Kathleen Troughton of Iowa City, Rachel, Katherine and James Wenman of Clive, Iowa

Her parents, husband, brothers Milton, Ferris and Kendall Smith preceded her in death. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Gladys’s family and her services.
