Lee G. Dewey, 88, died on January 1, 2010 in Iowa City, Iowa from heart disease. Mr. Dewey served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Dewey was a three-term president (1964-1970) of Local 1260, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, America. He was active for many years in the Democratic Party of Johnson County.
Mr. Dewey is survived by son and daughter-in-law Howard and Marti Horan of Iowa City, grandson John Horan and great-grandson Nicholas Van Allen Horan, son and partner Stephen Dewey and Brad Bentcover of St. Paul, Minnesota and sister Helen Dewey of Perry, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Mary Beth Godfrey-Dewey, his parents, a brother and sister.
Memorial services are pending. The family requests no flowers at this time.
