George W. Sauers, 57, of North Liberty ended his life on Sunday, January 3, 2010.

George was born January 27, 1952 in Bloomington, IN, the son of Robert and Madeleine French Sauers. He served in Viet Nam with the US Army. On December 27, 1972 George married Mary Lanoue at St. Patrick’s Church in Iowa City.
George was a correctional officer at the Medical Classification Center for 30 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church, and enjoyed coin collecting.
George is survived by his wife Mary and their two daughters, Beth Sauers ( Josh Tepfer),and their daughter Olive, and Katie Sauers ( Pete Barker), all of Chicago; his mother, Madeleine of Coralville; his brother Robert John Sauers ( Dr. Oliver Bowman) of Charleston,SC; his in-laws Andre and Laura Lanoue of North Liberty; brothers-in-law, Greg ( Kim) Lanoue of St. Louis and Michael (Nancy) Lanoue of West Des Moines; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
