IOWA CITY

George Albrecht, 90, formerly of 1804 Rochester Avenue, Iowa City, died Friday, February 21, 2003, at the Veterans' Home in Marshalltown following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at the Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City. A memorial fund in his name has been established.

George Albrecht was born May 23, 1912, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of V. James and Mamie (Sedivec) Albrecht. He was raised and educated in Iowa City, graduating from City High School. He served in the United States Army during WWII and returned to Iowa City following the war. He was employed as a deliveryman for United Delivery and later Means Grocery for many years. George moved to Marshalltown in 1987.

He is survived by his brother, William Albrecht of Iowa City, his brother-in-law, Philip Hotka, sister-in-law, Bernice Albrecht, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wesley, and two sisters, Elsie Bishop and Dorothy Hotka.
