IOWA CITY

Ruth Bartusch, age 72, of Iowa City, died in her home Sunday, February 23, 2003, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Survivors include her husband, Ward, daughter Suzanne Prymek, and her husband Smoe, of Oxford, and son Stuart, of Iowa City; Grandchildren are Christopher Mason of Cedar Rapids, Dakota Prymek of Oxford, Brittany and Brandon Bartusch of Osmond, Nebraska, and one great grandchild, Blaze Mason of Cedar Rapids.

Ruth was born the daughter of Henry and Lizzie (Smith) Van Winkle in Yalobusha County, Mississippi on July 26th, 1930. She was united in marriage to Ward Bartusch on January 8th, 1955, in Toledo, Iowa.

In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, her body will be cremated and there will be no services. Burial will take place at a later date at the Rock Island Arsenal.

Memorials in her name may be made to Iowa City Hospice. The Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service of Iowa City is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth was an active member of Hope United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Wesley House. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, being involved in church activities, shopping for bargains and playing bingo.

She is preceded in death by daughter Sandra, her parents, and many siblings.
