Services:Funeral Services to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held Thursday at 11:30 AM at United Church of Christ Congregational with Reverend Bob Molsberry officiating. The family will host a reception in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Burial will then follow in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association
Visitation:Friends may call from Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City.
Dorothy was born October 14, 1921 in Lorimor, Iowa, the daughter of Venice and Ethel (Higgins) Moore. She received her B.A. in Sociology and a M.A.in Library Science from the University of Iowa. Dorothy taught in elementary and junior high schools in Washington, Webster City, Sigourney and Thompson, Iowa prior to her marriage. On October 1, 1950 she married E. Thomas Gray in Maxwell, Iowa. They moved to Grinnell in 1951 and began raising their three children. In 1963, they moved to Iowa City where she became a sixth grade social studies teacher in the West Branch Community Schools before returning to school for her masters degree. She was the librarian at Regina High School in Iowa City for fourteen years.

Dorothy was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ where she was the Chair of the Board of Missions and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter KZ, and was involved in the University Book Discussion Club and served as an active community volunteer.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Tom of Grinnell; one daughter Sue Gray of St. Paul, Minnesota; two sons. Doug Gray of Denver, Colorado and Bob Gray and his wife Kelly of Stillwater, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Will and Nick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Lois and Darline
