Kathryn Julia Wiemer, 26, of 7 Heather Circle died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at University Hospital and Clinics after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Kathryn was born October 10, 1978 in Iowa City, the daughter of David and Barbara Olszewski Wiemer. She attended Regina kindergarten, Lucas Elementary, Southeast Junior High and was a 1998 graduate of City High School.

Following graduation Kathryn worked at the Waterfront Hy-Vee then in food service at UI Burge Residence Hall for five and a half years and at Hillcrest for one year. She had just begun working at Taco John’s prior to her illness.

Kathryn was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, where she was an usher and
volunteer at Summer Bible School and church dinners. Kathryn also volunteered at senior dining at the Senior Center and was a member of SoundReach Choir at West Music.

She enjoyed her music, reading, going to movies and eating at her favorite restaurant, Taco John’s. Kathryn had a special love for babies, her cousins and her dog Pepper.

Kathryn is survived by her parents, David and Barbara; her brother Andy of Iowa City and her sister Jenny of New York City; her grandparents Margaret Olszewski of Pittsburgh, PA. and Charles and Alberta Wiemer of Burlington, Wisconsin; her aunts and uncles, Carol (Lenny) Lois, Tim (Wanda) Wiemer, Tom (Doreen) Wiemer, Janet (Dennis) Michaels, Joanne (Bill) Ratchford, Joseph (Judy) Olszewski, Phyllis (Gary) Custer, Bob (Deb) Olszewski, Jim (Cindy) Olszewski and Richard (Marlene) Olzsewski and Diane Weimer; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Joseph Olszewski.
