Walter G. Morgan, 91, of 320 E. Washington Street in Iowa City, died Monday, August 15, 2005 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a lengthy illness.

Walter chose to be cremated. The family will greet friends Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree. Private burial will be in the Evans Cemetery in rural Lone Tree. Memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree Historical Society. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Glenn Morgan was born November 10, 1913 in Lone Tree, the son of L. David & M. Ella Mae (Stonebarger) Morgan. He married Mildred Spillman January 6, 1941 in Cedar Rapids. Walter was raised in Lone Tree and owned Morgan Greenhouse from 1928 until 1957. He then worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City as a nursing assistant for 22 years, retiring in 1979. He & his wife moved to Iowa City in the year 2000.

For 55 years, Walter traveled to carnivals & fairs working as a concessionaire.

Survivors include his wife Mildred; two sons, David Morgan & his wife Deanna of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Michael Morgan & his wife Janet of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three daughters, Susan Moore & her husband Vance of Iowa City, Maurene Morgan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Nancy Thompson & her husband Jeff of Port Townsend, Washington; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

\Walter was preceded in death by his parents and a son Jack.
