Services:Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 14, 2005 at 11am at the Church of the Nazarene, Iowa City. Pastor Michael Lynch will Officiate.Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery Theresa will be extremely missed by those who loved and cared for her.
Visitation:Friends may call after 9:30am at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Theresa Glasscock was born near Plaines, Kansas on August 24, 1911. As a young child, she, her parents, and her sister Thelma traveled north to Ogalalla, Nebraska in a covered wagon. As the years passed and the family grew, they moved east along the Platte River. When Theresa entered high school, they lived south of Fairbury, Nebraska. She attended Fairbury High School. The family then moved to Peru, Nebraska. Theresa stayed in Fairbury with an aunt to finish school and graduated in 1930.

After high school graduation She attended Peru State Teachers College in Peru, Nebraska. She taught country schools until she married Charles Lee Martin on June 14, 1936. To this union five children were born. Theresa thoroughly enjoyed cooking, quilting, her flowers, and taking care of her home and family. During this time Lee farmed in Nebraska and Kansas.

In the spring of 1957 the family moved to the Iowa City area, where Lee did farming and carpentry work prior to his retirement while Theresa continued to care for her children.Through the years, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren came along for her to love and care for.

In 2004, when Theresa was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, Lee and Theresa moved into their daughter’s home in Iowa City where she spent her final years and passed away on
August 11, 2005 surrounded by her family.

Theresa is survived by her husband Charles Lee; five children: Melba Lyvers of Iowa City and her daughters Cindy (Toby) Fetters and Amy Van Scoyoc, Larry (Mary) Martin of Murfreesboro, TN and their children Brian (Leslie) Martin, Charles (Vicki) Martin of Cedar Valley, IA and their children, Steven, Michael and Ann, Carol (Gary) Jondle of Iowa City and their children Kathleen (Michael) Thoma and Nathan (Meghan) Jondle, Dennis (Corky) Martin of Wellman, IA; six great grandchildren: Dylan, Ashley, Abrian, Caden, Colton and Ben; six siblings: Albert (Inez) Glasscock of Syracuse, KS, Steven (Peg) Glasscock of Wichita, KS, Robert Glasscock of Fairbury, NE, Emma Shultz of West Branch, IA, Alice Westerhoff of Hayesville, KS, June Stapaules of Hollenberg, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parentsStephen and Letha, four siblings Lily,Thelma, George and Lewis, brother-in-laws Ernest Shultz, Earl Westerhoff and Steve Stapaules.
Theresa will be extremely missed by those who loved and cared for her.
