W. Glenn Robbins, 73 of Iowa City died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Windmill Manor after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Wilbur Glenn Robbins was born May 2, 1933 in Waukegan, IL the son of Wilbur G. and Avis (Zoehler) Robbins. He attended St. John’s Military Academy in Delafield, WI and later graduated from Platteville High School in Platteville, WI. He also attended Kansas City Central Tech. Glenn served in the United States Army. On Jan 4, 1957 he married Jacquelyn Spradling, she died in 1978. In 1980 he married Karen Heller. For thirty six years he worked for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and Melbourne, FL, as an illustrator and technical writer, he retired in 1995. Glenn enjoyed music, bowling, fishing, softball and birds. Glenn believed in giving back and faithfully donated blood whenever they needed him. Glenn never met a stranger, he had the ability to make everyone feel welcome. Glenn was a true gentleman.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Robbins of Iowa City, IA, two children; Craig Robbins of Ft. Walton Beach, FL Jennifer Robbins of Waco, TX and grandson, Matthew Stufflebeam; step-son, Jan Kaplan (Cindy) of Belle Plaine, IA, and grandchildren; Kyle and Austin Kaplan, step-daughter, Lynnae Garringer (Rod )of Iowa City, IA and grandchild Amanda (Ryan )and great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Makayla, step-daughter, Janelle Jacobi of Grandview, IA, grandson, Jeremy( Holly) and great grandchild, Cooper, grandchildren, Christopher, Amber, Ryan and Rick. He is survived by three brothers, Andrew Gale Robbins (Jane) of Lancaster, WI, Gerald Robbins (Sima) of Newark, DE, Eugene Stephen Robbins (Elizabeth) of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jacquelyn and one son, Trent.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
