Ella J. (See) Parks, 83, of 328 N. Center Street, Iowa City, died Thursday April 19, 2007 at Solon Nursing Care Center following a brief illness.
Ella was born on June 8, 1923 in Rural Solon to Frederick and Frances (Reif) See. Ella was raised in the Solon/Ely area. She married Fred W. Parks on June 14, 1942 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ely. They moved to Iowa City in 1945. Ella was employed by P &G, Owens Brush and Moore Business Forms.
Ella was a member of Glorial Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City. She enjoyed gardening, baking apple pies, listening to Czech music, mending clothes for the family and fishing. She played on the Ely High School girl’s basketball team.
She is survived by her five children; Fred Parks of Knoxville, Iowa, Marilyn Coulter and her husband Tom of Iowa City, Iowa, Daryl Parks and his wife Gaylinn of Island Lake, Illinois, Craig Parks of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Kirk Parks and his wife Nancy of Iowa City, Iowa. Six grandchildren; Christy Parks-DeGarcia and her husband Jaime of Fairfax, Virginia, Tom Parks and his wife Kristen of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Robert Box of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Debra Maier and her husband Clifton of Solon, Tom Coulter of Iowa City and Tim Parks and wife Kim of Round Lake, Illinois; nine great grandchildren, Jarrod, Gilbert, Dalton, Kaitlyn, Victoria, Samantha, Jessica, Alexandria and Stone, a sister Mary Furler (Ralph) of Ely, IA.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred W., brothers Christian, John and Charles, a son Kent William, and a great-granddaughter Cassandra Huff.
