Hildreth E. “Topsy” Quire, 93, died Friday April 20, 2007 at Emerson Point, 1355 Shannon Drive following a sudden illness.

Hildreth was born on March 6, 1914 in Ollie, Iowa to Mearl and Sylvia (Bragg) Abel. She was raised in Ollie. She was a homemaker for many years and then worked as a Nurse’s Aid at the Sigourney Hospital. She moved to Iowa City in 1964 and worked at the University Hospital and then as a cook at a local nursing home. She retired in 1984. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Topsy enjoyed crocheting and helping people.

Topsy is survived by her daughters: Sandy (Lawrence) Mossman, Diane Phillips, sons: Bill (Wilma) Northup and James (Kristi) Quire, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one
great-grand children and two great-great grand children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother Harl, husbands Lloyd Northup and Geroge Quire, a daughter Sally Green, two grandsons, one great-grandson and a son-in-law.
