Frank J. Scott age 69 of Iowa City, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday October 10, 2007, at his home of cancer.
The pall will be placed on the casket by Frank’s grandchildren. Becky Franzen, Debbie Zabel and Cindy Scott will serve as gift bearers. Joe Zahler and Mike Kennedy will lector and Rhonda Zahler and Barb Brauckman will serve as eucharistic ministers.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Hampton with Bill Martin, Bob Scott, Mike Scott, Jason Brauckman, Shane Brauckman and Kurt Rindels serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Past Members of the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors, Past and Present Construction Crew Members and the Scott Race Team.
Frank “Scotty” Scott was born July 22, 1938, in Chickasaw County, Iowa the son of Ralph W. and Bernice M. (Baltes) Scott. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School, New Hampton High School and in 1957 graduated from Rudolphinium High School in Protivin.
On August 6, 1966, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Hampton, Frank was united in marriage to Lila Brauckman of Glidden, Iowa. To this union, three children were born.
Frank was employed in the asphalt industry for 51 years. Companies include; Smith Construction, Fred Carlson Company, Prairie Road Builders, Shamrock Construction Company a subsidiary of River Products Co. as well as for the City of New Hampton as Public Works Director. He also served for eight years as a Chickasaw County Supervisor including Chairman of the Board. Frank was very active in the local Democratic Party. He served as Parish President at the former St. Frederick’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg. His accomplishments also include being a Boy Scout Leader, active in the International Ford Retractable Club, a member of the Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa and a current member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City.
He especially loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, old cars and racing. He was very proud of being a part of his son John’s 2006 Boone Speedway Track Championship. He will be remembered for reminiscing with old friends and telling stories. Perhaps his greatest love of all was time spent with his family, especially his nine grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Lila; two sons, John (Angie) Scott of Dallas Center, IA and Todd (Becky) Scott of Iowa City, IA; one daughter, Tara (Peter) von Walden of Ames; nine grandchildren, Jake and Mitch Nicholson, Shae, Storm and Skyeler Scott, Madison and Kennedy Scott, Garrett and Annika von Walden; three brothers, Richard Scott of Neveda, IA, Dan (Jean) Scott of New Hampton and Thomas R. Scott of Iowa City, IA; one sister, Mary (Ken) Rindels of Charles City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Tyson Scott; one sister, Luanna Scott; one sister-in-law, Jackie Scott
