Catherine Marie Pfab, 77, of 505 E. Jefferson St. died suddenly from a battle with cancer Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Catherine's body was donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.

She was born Catherine Marie Curoe, at Bernard, IA on September 16, 1930, the daughter of William E. and Marie (Powers) Curoe. She graduated from Our Lady of Angles Academy in Clinton in 1949.

She was united in marriage to Irvin Pfab on June 8, 1955 at Sacred Heart Church in Fillmore. Catherine was employed at Mercy Hospital for 22 years before retiring in 2003.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Irvin; her daughter, Mary Ann (Charles) Nida of North Liberty, IA; her sons, David of Coralville, Steven (Debra) (Annie, the granddog) Pfab and Alan Pfab, both of Iowa City; and her granddaughter Lauren Marie Pfab of Iowa City; her sisters Sister Mary Curoe, BVM, of Mount Carmel Convent, Dubuque and Sister Janita Curoe, BVM, Canton MS.; and her brother Robert Curoe, Bernard, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother Richard Curoe, brother John Curoe and two brothers at birth.

In lieu of flowers, a Catherine Pfab Memorial Fund has been established in care of Irvin Pfab, P.O. Box 2446 Iowa City, IA 52244.
