Elizabeth Pearson, 70, died unexpectedly in her home in Iowa City on Thursday, February 6, 2003.

The family will greet friends Friday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial Service will then be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Elizabeth Pearson Memorial Fund.

Liz was born August 19, 1932, in Paisley, Scotland, the daughter of John & Harriet (Hopkirk) Humphries. She lived in Scotland until the age of 15 when her family moved to New Jersey.

She graduated from Harrison High School in Harrison, New Jersey, in 1949. Liz moved to Iowa City in 1956. She worked at Enzler’s Gifts and then for more than 20 years at Domby Boot Shop, retiring in the late 1980s. Liz was a member of American Business Women’s Association, Golden Hawks Chapter, Iowa City.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Piper and her granddaughter, Patricia Piper, both of Chicago and her brother, John Humphries & his wife Emily of Randolph Township, New Jersey & their family and a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy & Harold Spencer of Iowa City & their family.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents and a son, James W. Pearson III.
